The first sign that you have a mole(s) is the mound of earth appearing from its burrow (molehill). In most domestic and commercial situations, this is just a nuisance but moles can be particularly unwelcome on golf courses and bowling greens. Molehills can also cause damage to mowing machinery.

In agriculture, molehills are unknowingly wrapped up with silage - contaminating the crop fed to livestock which can result in severe illness or even death.
